TRESTLEBOARD Phoenicia Lodge No. 58 |
A BELATED TRESTLEBOARD
Due to a myriad of technical failures and the Holiday melee, the December Trestleboard was not sent out via email in a timely manner. It is our sincerest regret that any of this information contained within, which may be of importance to you, did not come to you sooner.
FROM THE EAST
Greetings Brethren,
How time does fly. Here it is December and almost time for installation of your Worshipful Master and five Officers.
I would like to take a moment to thank all of the 2004 Officers and those Brothers who have given of themselves in support of the Lodge, for their work and the advise they have contributed throughout the year. A special Thank You to Worshipful Brother William Franklin, PM, who has been our Treasurer for the past 5 years and has chosen to retire his position with the Lodge this year.
Thank you Brother Richard Paget, who has served as our Junior Deacon for the last 8 years and who has taken an extended respite due to illness. We pray for his speedy recovery and look forward to his return to the Lodge.
This has been a year of transition. We have made a crucial move from Scottsdale to Paradise Valley Silver Trowel. So far, we have made progress in our activities and our membership.
Your new Master has planned for many fun activities for the year. Support him with your attendance and participation.
It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve Phoenicia as Worshipful Master for 2004.
Thank you Brethren.
Fraternally,
Don S. Methven, Worshipful Master
FROM THE WEST
Greetings Brethren,
This year is coming to a close and we are planning the work and activities for the ensuing year. The amount of time and effort given by any one of the participants in these plans, and the activities that will follow, will be negligible in comparison to the impact they will have on others. And really, isn’t that what it’s all about?
Our first scheduled activity will be a fund raiser driving electric carts and taking shoppers from the mall to their cars at Chandler Fashion Center and Superstition Springs Center. Drivers will work 4 hour shifts or longer in the afternoon and evenings beginning November 26th and running through Christmas Eve. Those of you interested in participating in this event and helping to strengthen our Lodge should contact any one of the Officers listed on the Trestleboard. This is what it’s all about!
Fraternally,
Randall Smith, Senior Warden
FROM THE SOUTH
Greetings Brethren,
Thank you Brethren, for electing me to sit the West. I know that I have a lot of responsibilities to keep up with, but I will do my best to make you proud of the things we do at Phoenicia. We have a great Lodge, full of history and a great future to build on.
We continue to strive for excellence in our ritual, degree work being a priority and practice a regular occurrence.
Most recently, our lodge has been given the opportunity to participate in a great fundraiser benefiting not only our Blue Lodge but the Shrine Children's Hospital.
We are driving golf carts around Chandler Fashion Mall and giving people rides to and from there cars. We will continue to working this fundraiser for the two weeks prior to Christmas. If you can help by taking a four hour shift driving one of these golf carts, please contact Randy Smith, our Master Elect.
I worked a five hour shift on the day after Thanksgiving and it was a lot of fun. I got to meet a lot of people, several of whom commented to me that their father or grandfather was a Shriner or Mason.
I would also like to welcome our newest members to our Lodge, Kenneth Neusch, and Robert Dietrich.
Fraternally,
Gregory S. Weisman, Junior Warden
THE JEWEL OF OUR TREASURY
It is with great sadness that I must report the resignation of our Treasurer for the past five years, Worshipful Brother William Franklin, PM.
Brother Franklin has served our Lodge with diligence and zeal. He has been of great inspiration to our membership and the Fraternity. His mentoring and instruction to the junior members of the Lodge has been invaluable. All this in addition to his contribution of 60 years of service to the DeMolay.

SICKNESS & DISTRESS
We wish all the best and a speedy recovery to Worshipful Brother Anthony Humpage after a recent surgery. And to Brother Dick Paget, who is taking a hiatus from his duties as Junior Deacon, and it is hoped that he shall return in the near future. Please keep these Brothers in your prayers. If you know of anyone in our Masonic family who is ill or in need, please contact a Lodge member so that they can receive the support they deserve.

Thanks to Brother Bud Cochren, anyone in the Valley of the Sun can find a Lodge meeting throughout the week by calling for a recorded message, updated every Monday evening.
I have changed the way you will receive the Trestleboard. You will now receive an email with a link to a web site that contains the Trestleboard. This should help speed things up.
