TRESTLEBOARD Phoenicia Lodge No. 58 |
FROM THE EAST
Greetings Brethren,
Part of the definition of a Stated Meeting is, "The time and place where the business of the lodge is conducted”. While conducting business at these very important meetings, the more of our lodge members present, the closer the discussions and votes will reflect the true desires of the lodge!
This month’s Stated Meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 14th at 7:00 p.m.. There are issues that will be discussed and voted upon during this meeting that will be very important to the future of our Lodge.
As members of Phoenicia Lodge #58, you have the opportunity to be a part of the decisions that will affect our future.
We were successful in preventing the merger from taking place. Now is the time for the real work to begin. We have activities to plan for the members, their families, and friends. We have Lodge membership to build and degrees to prepare for. We have the "Master Builders Award" to work toward along with the "Master Architects Award".
I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
Fraternally,
Don S. Methven, Worshipful Master
FROM THE WEST
Greetings Brethren,
I would like to remind everyone that those of you who have yet to pay your 2004 dues risk being suspended from this Blue Lodge and will be unable to participate in the functions of any of the appendant Masonic Bodies. Please don’t allow this to happen. If a problem exists, please call any of the Officers and let us know. We want to help and we know how.
The membership dues for 2004 are $50.00. The cost of membership for 2005 will also be $50.00 and payable on the first of January.
Also, we have been invited by our Brothers from Paradise Valley Silver Trowel #29 to join them at their Annual Family Picnic on Sunday, October 24, at Sahuaro Ranch Park, 9802 N. 59th Avenue in Glendale. Fellowship will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the food (steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, potato salad, rolls, beverages, and dessert) will be served from Noon til 2:00 p.m. Bring the family. Bring an appetite. For more information and to sign up, contact myself, Greg Weisman, or Don Head.
Fraternally,
Randall Smith, Senior Warden
FROM THE SOUTH
Greetings from the South Brethren,
The summer is almost over, and it is time to get back to work in our Lodge. Our next meeting is September 14, 2004, at 7:00 pm. It is very important that we all be there. We will be deciding if we want to move our meetings to another Masonic Temple. Once we take care of this matter, we will be moving forward on making plans to grow our Lodge with activities that we all will enjoy.
Fraternally,
Gregory S. Weisman, Junior Warden
Thank You Brother Secretary
You should know that Brother Secretary Dan Wagner has resigned from this position, and W.M. Don Methven has appointed me, Don Head to this position. I know that you all will join me in wishing Brother Wagner the best as he travels, and I am hopeful that he will not be a stranger to us in the future.
Anyway, Brother Wagner has left me some very big shoes to fill, and it is my promise to you, to do the best of my ability, to fulfill the work that Dan has passed on to me. I look forward to seeing you all in September.
Fraternally,
Donald R. Head, Secretary
Who Are We Looking For?
The man we are seeking to join in our great work is one who is endowed with the desire of being of service to his fellow man, possessing that Charity of Heart and the know how to put into action the native abilities and accumulated knowledge of the spiritual and material teachings he possesses. All of which serve to benefit mankind and promote our reason for existence as a fraternity.
How do we enlist this fine man into our work?
Some member or members, who are sincerely and vitally interested in the future welfare of the lodge, may assume the responsibility. By sharing with this man its reasons for existence, its history, the contributions it has made to American life in particular and the world in general.
This member or members should be so informed and inspired with the spirit of Masonry that the enlistee will be able to visualize a portion of what his personal contribution might amount to. He must know and realize fully that the services he will perform are a labor of love, freely given from a free heart and deeply inspired by a sincere desire to be of service to his fellow creatures.
Brethren, I know of no other ethical way to entice a man to this work than that of impressing on him his overall impact upon the fraternity, his fellow man and God. We cannot enlist the proper man by subterfuge, gimmicks, material reward, medals, or certificates of achievement. We must impress upon him the spiritual and educational rewards that he will be able to impart, as well as receive.

I'm changing the way you will receive the Trestleboard. You will now receive an email with a link to a web site that contains the Trestleboard. This should help speed things up.
In the mean time...If you are unable to read this e-mail and wish to receive a "plain text" e-mail or, have a question or submission, please contact: Randall Smith at randy@mypieceoftheplanet.com so arrangements can be made.
